Association Play
Open Play Schedule
Open play is scheduled Monday – Friday from 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. on all 10 courts for association members.
Beginning at 11:00 a.m., courts 3,4,7 and 8 will be available for association activities such as ladder play or drills and skills. Courts 5 and 6 are available for set-up games for association members and can be reserved on TeamReach.
Skill Levels
Please note that all courts are labeled by skill level. Choose the court that best matches your level of play (beginner, intermediate, advanced). If you are unsure of your skill level, the Pickleball Guru’s Ratings Finder is posted at each court as a reference. Two challenge courts are available to test your skills with players at different skill levels.
Court Play Guidelines
Challenge Courts:
- Rules are posted on each of the two challenge courts. Winners stay and split. If you win two consecutive games, you step out.
- If courts are full, the challenge courts are not used as challenge courts. Four in, four out.
Paddle Rack System:
- Players can paddle up on appropriate courts. Players cannot use “extra” paddles to paddle up for others. Players on the court are not obligated to play with incoming players; players can choose to stay if there is an opening or may vacate the court.
Full Courts:
- When courts are full, level play is not honored on individual courts. For example, if courts are full and an advanced court opens, a beginner or intermediate group can play on the advanced court.
Empty Courts:
- When courts are available and open between 7:00-11:00 a.m., players have the option to drill or play singles. However, when courts eventually fill, drilling and singles must cease to allow for maximum participation.
Private Lessons:
- Private individual or group pickleball lessons are an important component for some of our association members. If you choose to give private or group lessons for compensation, you must follow the guidelines and procedures outlined by the YMCA for independent contractors including court rental and acquiring liability insurance. Please contact Doreen Zierer, ICPA President, for more information.
